Let It Die, Let It Live: Winter Solstice & the Soul’s Sacred Reset

As the year fades and winter deepens, I take pause.

In ancient Kemet, the story of Ausar’s resurrection marked this season. A divine man, broken & scattered, re-membered & reborn through the living sacred feminine force of Auset. It was more than myth—it was medicine & method. A system of ritual renewal I choose to embody.

For me, the time around the Winter Solstice is this sacred moment. The longest night. The darkest stillness. And the clearest mirror.

This year has been full.

Two of my children graduated college. One completed high school. The political landscape continues to shift, sharpening the need for grounded awareness. And personally, I’m in a time of deep internal reorganization—where some patterns, relationships, or roles require my full attention for programing. (If you’re not actively doing it, someone or something else is.)

So I step back from the blog & some other activities for a season. To do the work. Because I’m listening. It’s a key when you are on a spiral up.

A Simple Ausarian Practice (you can try this too):

Light a single candle on the Solstice. * Write down what needs to die. A habit. A role. A resentment. * Burn it (safely). *Speak life over what must be born: “This is the version of me that rises.”  This time of year is not only for tinsel & cheer. It's for sacred self-repair.

It’s okay to step back. It’s necessary to rest. It’s powerful to reflect.

May this winter be your womb. May the darkness not frighten you—but refine you. And when you return—may you rise whole, clear, & sovereign.

See you soon. –K
