What's hotter than Thriving?!

Dear ELEVATED Community,

I’m your brother K & today is a great day to have a great day!  I’m so excited to talk to you today about something super important—Thriving! Now, you might be wondering, what does "thriving" mean? Well, thriving is all about growing strong, feeling great, & living your best life. It’s like when a plant gets the right amount of sunshine, water, & care—it grows tall, beautiful & fruitful. Just like that, when we take care of ourselves & each other, we can thrive too!

Thriving in July: What It Means

July is a month full of sunshine, fireworks, & fun times with family & friends. And ofcourse, good food! But it’s also a great time to think about how we can thrive in our own lives. Thriving means not just surviving, but really living our best lives. It means feeling good about ourselves, having energy, & making the most of each day. It’s about doing what makes us happy & healthy.

Cultural Examples of Thriving This Year

This year, we’ve seen some amazing examples of people thriving. Think about all the people who came together to help after the big storms earlier this year. Neighbors helped each other rebuild homes, clean up, & stay strong. That’s thriving as a community! Or how about the athletes in the Summer Olympics? They’ve trained so hard, & now they’re shining on the world stage, doing what they love. That’s another way of thriving—working hard & reaching your goals.

Thriving in Our Lives: Middle-Aged Americans

Now, let’s talk about thriving when you’re a bit older. Maybe you’re in your 40s or 50s, & life looks different than it did when you were younger. That’s okay! Thriving at this stage begins with finding joy in the small things—like spending time with loved ones, pursuing a hobby, or staying active. It continues with balancing work & play. This balance has more to do with timing that exactness.  Thriving is undergirded by taking care of your body & mind. A healthy body & mind is the necessary environment for the person to flourish.

Here’s a little story: I know a friend who, after years of working a busy job & failed relationships, decided to start gardening. At first, it was just a small patch in his backyard, but soon, it became his favorite thing to do. Consistently learning new & trying new challenges & techniques opened him to a new level of humility & enjoyment. He started growing vegetables, flowers, & even helped his neighbors start their own gardens. Now, every day, he wakes up excited to see what’s new in his garden. He has richer relationships with his community & a sense of purpose about life. That’s what thriving looks like for him—finding something that brings joy & makes each day special.

Tips for Thriving This July

  1. Stay Active: Go for a walk, ride a bike, go swimming! Staying active is key to thriving. Moving your body helps you feel strong & full of energy. Whatever is comfortable, do a little more!

  2. Eat Well: Just like a plant needs good soil, we need good food to thrive. Enjoy lots of fruits, veggies, & healthy meals that make you feel good inside & out. If a carnivore plan has you feeling alive & vibrant, grab some steak. Remember, you’re exceptional! Find your unique path & walk it proudly.

  3. Connect with Others: Spend time with family & friends. Share stories, laugh together, & support each other. We thrive when we’re connected with the people we care about.

  4. Try Something New: Maybe there’s something you’ve always wanted to do—like painting, cooking a new recipe, or starting a new project. July is a great time to try it out & see how it helps you grow.

  5. Take Time to Rest: Don’t forget to relax! Whether it’s reading a book, meditating, or just sitting in the shade, rest is important for thriving.

Thank you for being a part of our ELEVATED9 community where we all thrive together, enjoying each day & growing in our own special ways.

Best & Better,

K
