Accept being Exceptional

Dear ELEVATED9 Community,

I’m your brother K, & I’m excited to talk with you today about something really special—Being Exceptional! Now, you might be wondering, what does "exceptional" mean? Well, being exceptional is all about being the truly amazing & unique you. Standing out, & doing things in the best way possible. It’s like that scene in the ‘Snowden’ movie completes the 5 hours exam in 38 minutes doing the exam his own way—that's exceptional! And guess what? We all have the ability to be exceptional in our own unique ways.

Being Exceptional in August: What It Means

We are beginning to see the end of summer, but it’s also a time to show the world what makes us special. Being exceptional means going above & beyond, whether it’s at work, with your family, or in your community. It’s about setting high standards for yourself & reaching for the stars. It starts with stepping into what makes you you. Discover your (word worth looking up coming) idiosyncrasies! Focus in on your strengths & expand your activities around them. From there, the sky is the limit!

Cultural Examples of Being Exceptional This Year

This year, we’ve seen some incredible examples of people being exceptional. Think about the 15 year old scientists who graced the cover of ‘Time’ for his work to keep us healthy. Talk about going the extra mile! In your undertaking the key is showing dedication & care that truly stands out. Or consider the artists like Kendrick Lamar whose ability to create powerful works at a rate that inspires us—they’re using their talents in extraordinary ways to touch our hearts. These are just a couple of ways people have been exceptional this year, making a big difference in the world. What about you? What special view or version of something can you package in a manner that brings value?

Being Exceptional Middle-Aged Americans

Now, let’s talk about being exceptional when you’re in your 40s or 50s. At this stage of life, being exceptional can mean mastering the balance between work, family, & personal goals. It could be finding new ways to excel in what you do, whether it’s leading a project at work, being a great parent, or giving back to your community.

Here’s a story: I know a woman who, after her kids went off to college, decided to start a small business from home. She’d always been great at baking, so she began making custom cakes for special occasions in her free time. At first, it was just for friends & family, but soon her cakes became famous in the neighborhood. She put in extra effort to make each cake perfect, & her business grew because she was exceptional at what she did. Now, she’s known for her beautiful, delicious cakes that bring joy to everyone who tastes them. That’s what being exceptional looks like—using your talents to create something wonderful.

Tips for Being Exceptional This August

  1. Set High Standards: Whatever you’re doing, aim to do it to the best of your ability. Whether it’s a work project or a hobby, give it your all & be proud of what you achieve.

  2. Keep Learning: Exceptional people never stop learning. Read books, take a class, or learn a new skill. The more you know, the more exceptional you can be.

  3. Help Others: Being exceptional isn’t just about what you do for yourself—it’s also about what you do for others. Find ways to support your family, friends, or community, & make a positive impact. It could also be the process that reveals that new thing that changes everything!

  4. Stay Positive: Having a positive attitude can help you be exceptional in tough times. When challenges come your way, face them with courage & optimism.

  5. Celebrate Your Successes: Don’t forget to celebrate the exceptional things you do. Take a moment to recognize your achievements, big or small, & feel good about them.

Thank you for being part of our ELEVATED community where we all strive to embrace the ways in which we are exceptional. Wishing you greater success standing out in the best possible ways & inspiring others to do the same.

Best & Better,

K
